Yamantaka is one of the Dharmapala, protective deities of the Dharma and the buddhist faith, and a wrathful incarnation of the boddhisattva of wisdom Manjusri. His name means “conqueror of death”, referring to the cessation of the hellish cycles of reincarnation, death and rebirth (samsara) that buddhism seeks to achieve throught liberation (nirvana).
